When Missing Loved Ones Becomes a Lifestyle
I grew up missing people. My begetter was a company man — a corporate nomad — so when it came time to movement once more, we packed up and went where the career opportunities led him.
The only place he e'er declined to movement was Utah. That's because no i in their right listen agrees to move to Utah. (Hey, no criminal offence.)
Growing upward, I missed friends, neighbors, and classmates across six states. Relationships were temporary. Living hundreds of miles from relatives, we visited them once or twice a twelvemonth. For seven years, my dad worked second shift so he could climb that corporate ladder; ofttimes I missed him, likewise.
When I attended college, naturally it was out-of-land. Then, I landed a corporate job much like his and continued the nomadic lifestyle of corporate relocations and missing people.
Once I became a parent, however, I sought to ensure that my own daughter didn't abound upward missing people she loved. I wanted to give her the gift of being "from" somewhere. I wanted to give her the gift of not continually feeling loss or separation from all that was familiar.
Nosotros now alive a stone's throw from my parents and other family. Corporate nomads somewhen detect their oasis, and information technology's rarely at the top of the organizational ladder.

The songs that touched my heart after losing loved ones may not even have been ones similar this, but ones that nosotros used to sing together or had other meanings. Time does heal the initial pain of losing loved ones, hard equally that is to believe when nosotros first lose loved ones.

I met my soulmate while living in Europe every bit a teenager. We'd spend ours days dreaming about a future together. Just, her family abruptly left the country and disappeared. The day I watched her lath the plane crying is among the worst days of my life.
We knew nosotros'd probably never run across each other once more and promised to always recollect, and observe each other in the next life.
In the years since, I've searched, merely never constitute whatsoever trace of her.
And, while my life went on, I've never forgotten her.
The song that e'er makes me stop and think about her and what could have been is "Who Wants to Live Forever" past Queen. Similar in the song, we only weren't fated to be together. Just, we had our ane sweet moment - our forever.

Some nice writing and some good tunes.
The juxtaposition of songs about real, raw actual emotion to some of the made up nonsense concerning "micro-aggressions" on higher campuses today is startling. We used to use things similar music to cope with anxiety and depression. Then we moved to drugging well-nigh a whole society and now we are beginning to see a generation that human activity as if they are so fragile y'all tin can't even ask where they were born for fear of pain their feelings.
